Late Spring Community Education and Workforce Development Courses at MiraCosta

San Diego County CA— MiraCosta College’s Community Education and Workforce Development Program is offering the following not-for-credit courses this spring:

 MATLAB I

MATLAB is a scientific computing language and program platform widely used throughout industry. It is designed to simplify rapid development and prototyping of highly intensive applications. This class explains the basics of matrix algebra with applications using the software.

Fee: $125. Admin Fee: $50. Location: Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. Time: Saturdays, 4/22–5/20, 12–5 p.m.


Instrument Rating Certification (IFR)

This important course covers the rules and regulations for instrument flight interpretation of flight instruments, air navigation, meteorology, instrument flight techniques, air traffic control, and flight planning.

Fee: Register before 4/14, $250. After, $350. Location: Technology Career Institute Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4/27–6/20, 6–8:30 p.m.


Introduction to Reverse Engineering

This course introduces students to reverse engineering through handheld scanners, the software used to recreate an object, and the process of evaluating and potentially redesigning the reproduced object.

Fee: $99. Admin Fee: $30. Location: Technology Career Institute. Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 4/25–5/18 5:30–8 p.m.


Quality Assurance Basics for Manufacturing

This workshop provides students with an overview of quality assurance concepts within the manufacturing industry.

Fee: $75. Admin Fee: $30. Location: Technology Career Institute. Time: Mondays & Wednesdays, 5/1–5/17 5:30–8 p.m.


Be Your Own Handyman

This course is packed with hands-on lessons that will teach you the basics of carpentry, plumbing, electrical, wall patch and tile repair. You will learn how to replace toilets, install faucets and deal with those pesky leaks. You will also learn how to replace electrical outlets, install light fixtures and troubleshoot your electrical wiring.

Session I: Rough Carpentry, Plumbing & Electrical. Saturday, 4/1. Session II: Wall Patch & Tile. Saturday, 4/8. Session III: Plumbing. Saturday, 4/22. Session IV: Electrical. Saturday, 4/29.
