Fire Causes $150,000 Damage to Home in Northeast Oceanside

Oceanside CA— Last night, Wednesday, May 17, 2017 just after 8:15pm, Oceanside firefighters were dispatched to reports of a home on fire at the Westwinds Mobile Lodge, 4616 North River Rd. # 11. Crews arrived on scene to find a double wide mobile home with a working fire. The first units on scene advanced a hose line through the side door and extinguished a well involved fire in the kitchen and laundry room.

“I was watching television when I started hearing an alarm go off. I went outside and saw smoke pouring out of the house, said Mike Milligan, who lives across the street from the incident. “The daughter was outside so my wife went and consoled her. She was pretty upset but said the fire started in the dryer. I feel bad for them. They just put a lot of money into the home, fixing the roof, the porch. It’s really sad.”

Two adults and two children were displaced by this fire. Red Cross assisted by supplying temporary housing for the displaced residents.

The fire was under control by 8:46pm. Damage is estimated at $150,000 for structure and contents. The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
