  • Tuesday, August 15 at 9 p.m. (testing and interviews are immediately following the information session)

Keepsake Box

All levels are welcome. In this fun and relaxed class, you will mosaic the top of a keepsake box. Students will get the opportunity to choose materials such as bits of stained glass, mirror, beads, shells, and broken pottery. Learn mosaic techniques and complete your project in just two classes. Fee: $75. Early Bird Special $65 (register before 6/9). Location: Cathy Sparks Art Studio 1109 Cesar Chavez Parkway, San Diego. Time: Saturdays, 6/17, 10 a.m.–2 p.m. and 6/24, 10 a.m.–12 p.m.

Portrait Art—Watercolor Painting

Learn how to capture the most essential qualities of a portrait. Gain technical mastery and intuitive understanding of the human facial features. This class will teach students watercolor techniques, line, form, contour, composition and proportions of the head, as well as the use of materials and paper. Students will learn how to paint each feature on the face step-by-step. Learn watercolor techniques for a portrait from demonstrations and exercises that will advance your skills. Fee: $120. The Exciting World of Night Photography: Camera and Shooting

Want to capture night-sky splendor with your digital SLR? Learn the technique and art of photographing after dark. Fundamentals of night photography are covered in the classroom on night one. On night two, we shoot outside of class (weather permitting). Then on nights three and four, we will meet at a selected location to put into actions what we learned. Fee: $129. Early Bird Special $119 (register before 5/26). Location: MiraCosta College Oceanside Campus, Room 4607. Wednesdays, 6/7–6/28, 7:30–9:30 p.m.
