A special salute local College and Young Republicans
Carlsbad CA— Join Carlsbad Republican Women Federated (CRWF) on Tuesday, September 26th for a very special luncheon meeting. San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond will address the “Future of San Diego and Palomar Airports,” as well as his 2018 candidacy for the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, District 5. Mayor Desmond will also assist in presenting CRWF grants to the San Diego Young Republicans club and to five College Republican organizations including Cal State San Marcos, Point Loma Nazarene University, San Diego State, University of California SD, and the University of San Diego. For the 12th straight year, CRWF has had the honor of awarding cash grants to these dedicated and active young Republicans!
Jim Desmond was elected Mayor of San Marcos in 2006 and re-elected in 2010 and 2014 without opposition. He serves as Mayor while concurrently working as a pilot for Delta Air Lines. In addition to his duties as mayor, Desmond serves as the city’s primary representative on the board of the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) and is the chair of the SANDAG Regional Transportation Committee. Having served on the Board of the San Diego County Regional Airport Authority since 2007 representing the North County Inland Cities, Mayor Desmond has extensive knowledge regarding day-to-day operations of the airports and the region’s long-term air transportation needs. Land use, public health and safety, and private and business transportation requirements are key issues surrounding our airports. Desmond is married with two children, and is a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Carlsbad Republican Women Federated general meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month at the Green Dragon Tavern and Museum, 6115 Paseo del Norte, Carlsbad, CA 92011.
