Oceanside CA- The 22,000 sq ft Alex Road Skate Park opened with skydivers, speeches and a ribbon cutting ceremony at 3:00pm today. Reviews were good from skaters trying out the park. Smooth was the word most often used to describe the skating experience on the new cement. Professional skateboarder, Andy Macdonald, likes the park. “I only wish it was a little bit bigger and diverse so we could have professional competitions here” said Macdonald “This place is really nice. Great for beginners and intermediate skaters. We just need more skate parks in general” continued Macdonald. “Count how many baseball diamonds there are in the San Diego area, then count the skate parks. There are a lot more skaters than baseball players.”
The city will be cracking down on the helmet rules at the park ‘ for the skaters safety’ said Oceanside Mayor, Jim Wood, but the Mayor was impressed by the skill level shown by all ages at the opening.
