Oceanside CA- The Oceanside Public Library’s ‘No Participation Required‘ series will host Cal State University San Marcos (CSUSM) Political Science Professor Dr. Stephen W. Nichols in a public discussion on what he terms as “Broken Government,” a topic of his particular interest, at the Oceanside Public Library’s Civic Center location, on Wednesday, October 9 at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Nichols’ opinion is that the United States’ political system has become dysfunctional, to such a degree that the country has arrived at a federal government shutdown over health care reform. This forum, in which Dr. Nichols’ will share his ideas, and invite comment and discussion, is offered as part of the Oceanside Public Library “No Participation Required” program series.
Nichols is an Associate Professor of Political Science at CSUSM and holds a Ph.D. from Ohio State University. He studies American political behavior and institutions, and his research and teaching interests include political participation, public opinion, political parties, political psychology, and research methodology. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library. The Oceanside Public Library’s “No Participation Required” series, held the second Wednesday of every month, presents local activists, professors, authors, artists and other talented folk sharing their knowledge for free.
Howling Halloween Stories at the Library
The Oceanside Public Library invites you to “Howling Halloween Stories” with special guest Ken Frawley. A fun and only slightly spooky look at one of America’s most popular holidays told through stories and songs performed by Ken. This holiday family program is free and is suitable for all ages. This event is being held on Saturday, October 19 at 2:00 p.m. and is sponsored by the Friends of the Oceanside Public Library.
