Oceanside CA- The Legacy Brewing Company is getting set for its Grand Opening this weekend at the new brewery, 363 Airport Road, in Oceanside.
The new 4,400 sq ft. brewery has been 11 months in the making but had a “soft opening” in October as co-Owner John “JJ”Snyder has been fine tuning the taste room for the Grand Opening and unveiling of their new San Diego Style IPA, the Hop 76 IPA.
Legacy offers 9 of their brews on tap in the tasting room served on, quite possibly, the longest bar in North County at 35 feet. The brewer and co-Owner is Mark Mericle. Mark has taken the best of German, English, Scottish and Irish brewers to create Legacy’s unique line of beers with a balanced flavor. Mericle has 25 years experience brewing premium, fresh, flavorful beer and began as an apprentice to some of the original craft brewers in California. Legacy ales are available in close to 20 restaurants and pubs in the area with that number increasing weekly.
Examples of Legacy brews; there is the Founding Father’s Nut Brown Ale, a highly touted brown ale with a complex malt palate of caramel, chocolate, light roast and biscuit flavors, medium hop bitterness per style with Horizon and Willamette hops.
Sedition IPA , is an English style IPA , characterized by a soft malt sweetness from caramel malts and oats, plus an assertive but not over the top hop bitterness derived from a mixture of earthy and herbal type English hops which include Fuggles hops. A hop that has been used in brewing since the 18th century.
The Chesty Irish Red, an Irish Red Ale, reddish-brown color with caramel and honey like malt sweetness and low-level but present fruity nose with balanced with Magnum hops.
Clan Ross Scottish Ale, a Scotch Ale with a strong ale style originating from Edinburgh, Scotland in the 19th century. Sometimes referred to as a wee heavy, this ale is dominated by big caramel malt flavors, nutty/toffee flavors and finishes with notes of spiciness. This Scotch ale has a wonderful warming effect and is best served in a bowled snifter to appreciate the intense malt flavors and aroma.
Sleighwreck Ale most often described as Christmas in your mouth is a Red Ale, reddish-brown in color with caramel and honey like malt sweetness. Cinnamon, orange peel, cloves and allspice are also in the mix.
Sons of Liberty Porter is an American style Porter full of coffee and dark chocolate flavors with deep caramel flavors balancing that palate.
The Grand Opening celebration on November 23, will officially introduce Legacy to the world. Tickets to the event are $20.00 each. A minimum of 7 beers will be available on tap.
