San Diego CA- Employment & Community Options (E&CO), a non-profit organization that assists people with disabilities to find and keep a job and to live as independently as possible, will host its fifth annual Taste of Our Community event presented by Walmart on Thursday, March 6, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fifty Seven Degrees located 1735 Hancock Street. The San Diego community is invited to sample signature items from more than 20 local restaurants, wineries and breweries while bidding on priceless and once-in-a-lifetime silent auction items.
The Taste of Our Community features local restaurants that employ more than 1,000 E&CO individuals, including On the Border, Rock Bottom Brewery and Hilton hotels. E&CO connects local businesses with hard-working and reliable employees, ultimately helping individuals with disabilities be productive, independent members of society.
“On The Border has been employing participants from Employment & Community Options for the last 10 years in all four of our San Diego locations. We are extremely happy with the services these amazing individuals provide,” said Dave Ihm, Area Director, On the Border Mexican Grill & Cantina.
Assemblymember Brian Maienschein will receive the “Legislator of the Year” award for his work and advocacy on behalf of individuals with disabilities and host the VIP lounge for E&CO sponsors and supporters. E&CO will also present its Employer, Employee, Participant and Volunteer of the Year awards.
This year, Taste of Our Community is made possible through the generosity of our Port Wine Presenting Sponsor Walmart, as well as: Intercare Insurance Solutions, Three Rivers Provider Network, Bernstein Global Wealth Management and Aflac Mission Valley.
