Oceanside CA- Students of all artistic abilities can discover their inner artist over a glass of fine wine at ArtBeat on Main Street’s Palate to Palette classes at this downtown Vista gallery. Presented by ArtBeat and the Vista Art Foundation, Palate to Palette is taught by Oceanside-based Margaret Chiaro, an acclaimed artist and art instructor whose works grace public and private collections.
The upcoming Palate to Palette will be held on March 22, 2014 from 6-9 pm. Students will paint Cezanne’s “Still Life with Apples.” The $40 class fee covers all supplies, instruction and a glass of wine. Register in advance at www.artbeatonmainstreet.com or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org, calling 760.295.3118, or visiting the gallery at 330 Main Street.
Each class is like a mini art course conducted in a relaxed and encouraging environment, says Chiaro. “First, I expose the students to the featured artist. People learn about the lives of masters such as Picasso, Matisse, Van Gogh and Cezanne. They gain an understanding of their subject matter, painting techniques and how their work fits into their era. Then, we work step-by-step to ‘copy’ the artwork. Even people who walk in the door declaring, ‘I am not an artist’ thrive in this non-intimidating setting. Many students display their masterpieces proudly in their home or office.”
She adds, “Of course, having a glass of wine to start the evening helps even novice artists unleash their creativity.” One of those artists, Meg Gheyssarieh of Oceanside, noted after a recent class, “I arrived hoping to copy a Van Gogh, but with Margaret’s inspiration I found that my own style was delightful. Surprise!”
Due to the outstanding response, almost every Palate to Palette session is booked to its 28-person capacity. For that reason, the event will soon expand from one to three times per month. Chiaro and other ArtBeat artists also teach a variety of classes at the gallery, making it a destination for all things art. Palate to Palette makes a unique treat for birthday and anniversary celebrations, team-building events and other gatherings. As owner Kait Matthews proclaims, “Originality lives here!”
