Oceanside CA- Late trains on the weekends and special service for all Padres home games are the main features of the new COASTER train schedule which will take effect on Monday, April 7. The North County Transit District revises the COASTER schedule every year at this time to accommodate passengers who like to ride transit to spring and summer activities up and down the coast.
The new schedule which is in effect from April 7 – October 5 may be viewed at GoNCTD.com where a PDF version is available for viewing or downloading. COASTER pocket schedules are also available at NCTD transit centers, customer service centers and on board COASTER trains.
Campaign to re-enforce rules of riding
Another new feature this spring is the ‘Civility Rules’ campaign. Passengers will see a series of light-hearted posters on board the COASTER, SPRINTER hybrid rail, and BREEZE buses illustrating the key rules of riding covering topics such as alcohol consumption, loud music, profane language, and disorderly conduct. In addition to the posters, NCTD is promoting the campaign through social media. An increased security presence on COASTER trains and stations, especially during Padres home games rounds out the campaign. “Our motivation is to provide a safe and comfortable experience for all of our passengers,” said NCTD’s Chief of Security, Jaime Becerra. “We want to remind folks that what may be fun to them might be disturbing or inappropriate behavior to others. The trains are essentially small, enclosed spaces where the more considerate we are of our fellow passengers the better it is for everyone,” Becerra said. Security personnel are educating passengers by handing out flyers that outline the rules for alcohol consumption as well as the potential consequences for those who don’t follow the rules of riding.
