Vista CA – Operation HOPE – Vista, Inc., a non-profit organization based in Vista, CA, announces the kick off of “Transforming Lives with HOPE,” its first annual giving campaign. The group strives to reflect its acronym ‘Homeless Outreach Providing Encouragement’ by providing a cold weather shelter for homeless families with children and single women.
With a goal of raising $50,000 by June 15, 2014, the group hopes to raise enough money to allow expansion and lengthening of services provided in their facility. At the close of the most recent season, 100% of clients had lined up transitional housing for the next stage in becoming self-sufficient. Of the 70 clients this year, 32 were children. One success story is a woman named Veronica. As a victim of domestic violence, she and her three children had no safe place to go, and no one to support her through her difficult time.
Because of the safe and stable environment at Operation HOPE – Vista, her children blossomed and excelled in school. With the legal assistance obtained through the program, she was successful in her child custody case. She was given training in how to prepare a resume and interview for a job. She now has permanent housing and a job. She is caring for her own children and is self-sufficient once more.
Operation HOPE – Vista is dedicated to helping families break the cycle of homelessness that is often repeated by subsequent generations. Donations can be sent to PO Box 3273 in Vista, CA 92085. Your help can make all the difference for a homeless child. For information on the program, call Beth at (760) 536-3880.
