Wild Car Chase in North County Ends with Arrest in Oceanside

Oceanside CA-An individual who was sought in connection with an outstanding felony warrant, briefly eluded capture Wednesday afternoon after a wild car chase in North County.

It happened around 2:30 as deputies from the Vista Sheriff’s Station and members of the San Diego Regional Fugitive Task Force (FTF) were attempting to arrest Julio Cruz (DOB: 9/21/1971) on a felony warrant.

It’s unclear at this time how the pursuit started. At some point during the chase, a deputy in a patrol car with lights and sirens on was hit by another car at the intersection of Hacienda and South Emerald Drives in Vista. The deputy was not hurt.

The suspect also caused two car crashes in the area. The suspect was believed to be hiding in the 4200 block of Tiberon Drive in Oceanside. He was taken into custody shortly before 5:00 p.m. Wednesday. The collision involving the deputy is still under investigation.
