Carlsbad CA– After 20 years of freelance graphic design, custom mural painting, and teaching, artist Karen Gooding Haub is finally realizing her dream of committing to her path as a fine art painter.
“Painting is a path, a passion for me” said Karen “It’s not about selling my paintings, of course that has to be part of it but it really is about the art.” Karen’s new path helps her maintain her skill levels for her parallel path, teaching at Palomar College.
Karen is an Adobe Certified Photoshop Instructor at the school and will add teaching Adobe Illustrator at Palomar in the Fall. Karen also has experience in the video arts working on several films in the 48 Hour Film projects but her broad spectrum of talents always seem to lead her back to painting.
She has had an affinity for drawing and painting from an early age. Her work is greatly inspired by a wide range of styles from Renaissance masters to contemporary realist painters, as well as by the beautiful landscapes of the California Plein Air painters.
The focus of Karen’s work is currently shifting toward exploring the relationship between digital art and traditional art, or the natural world vs the digital world. She explores the concept of two different depictions of “visual reality” in her piece entitled “Dichotomy”, which can be seen at The San Diego County Fair, Fine Art Exhibition during the month of June.
You can see more of Karen’s work at www.karenhaubdesign.com or visit the studio and gallery at 300 Carlsbad Village Dr. #105, Carlsbad, CA 90028.
Life drawing workshops with a live model are offered at the studio/gallery on Monday evenings from 6-9 p.m., as well as private and group drawing and painting classes throughout the year.
Karen will be part of the Rainbow Bridge Art Project Fundraiser and ‘Cruising the Art Scene in Carlsbad’ on Thursday. May 22nd, 5:30 p.m. -8:30 p.m. [Link]
