Oceanside CA– Visit Oceanside’s marketing manager, Cerina De Souza, was honored this week as one of 30 emerging leaders under 30 by the California Travel Association. The award was presented at the association’s 32nd Travel Summit, which took place June 23-25 in Los Angeles.
“Cerina is an outstanding ambassador of the tourism industry and very deserving of this honor,” said Leslee Gaul, CEO of Visit Oceanside. “She understands the importance of tourism as an economic engine and does an outstanding job of communicating this effectively to the community, visitors and stakeholders. She possesses an exceptional ability to be visionary and strategic, while understanding the importance of implementing programs with quality and utmost attention to detail.”
During the award ceremony, De Souza was honored for her accomplishments in growing Visit Oceanside’s website, social media presence and advertising programs. Under her direction, website traffic and consumer opt-ins for email promotions has nearly doubled. De Souza was also instrumental in revamping the Oceanside Visitors Guide, using local stories and personalities to capture the destination’s vibrant character.
De Souza joined Visit Oceanside in 2011 as marketing coordinator and was quickly promoted to marketing manager. Prior to Visit Oceanside, she worked as a customer service representative at The Cake Shop in Apple Valley, Calif. and community relations associate for the Desert Communities United Way also based in Apple Valley. De Souza holds a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of LaVerne.
The California Travel Summit is the premier California travel/tourism and hospitality industry education and networking event of the year.
