San Marcos CA– Diamond Environmental Services encourages people to celebrate the first World Portable Sanitation Day on August 15, 2014 by increasing their awareness of the importance of adequate sanitation throughout the world, especially in developing countries. This global day of recognition is inaugurated by the Portable Sanitation Association International (PSAI), of which Diamond is an active member.
According to the World Health Organization, approximately one-third of the world’s population – some 2.6 billion people – lacks access to adequate sanitation. PSAI is striving to change those dismal statistics by promoting local change that reverberates globally. Sanitation, through portable restrooms and other means, can prevent the spread of disease, save water and improve the quality of life of people and communities. According to PSAI, “Portable sanitation – estimated to save 125 million gallons of fresh water daily – can be part of a sustainable global sanitation solution.”
Diamond owner Eric de Jong states, “As a locally owned, ‘green’ sanitation company with ‘environmental’ in our name and as a business that has provided residents and businesses in San Diego and throughout Southern California with multifaceted, environmentally-friendly services since 1998, we have a strong commitment to health, both here and around the world. We are proud to partner with our PSAI associates in creating awareness of the global sanitation problem and to offer solutions to promote a better, longer and more healthful life for everyone on Planet Earth.”
