Vista CA– On Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at about 5:25 PM, deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at 200 Grapevine Road, who was in possession of a billy club and who alleged there was a gas leak near or at his apartment. The subject reported this to the staff at the apartment complex. Over the course of the last week, the same subject, later identified as Clifften Peter Dominik Korsch, had displayed the same behavior to apartment staff with his billy club twice at the apartment complex.
In addition to these incidents, when an apartment staff member knocked on Korsch’s front door to inquire about another matter, Korsch opened his front door holding what appeared to be some type of long rifle.
As these incidents were reported to the Sheriff’s Department, Vista Detectives began their investigation. A search warrant was obtained for Korsch’s apartment and executed by the Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail during the evening of August 28th. Korsch exited his apartment without incident and was arrested. The search of the apartment revealed many evidentiary items to include a PR-24 type billy club, a 40 caliber Glock handgun, a shotgun, an assault rifle, a hunting rifle, a military vest and a military helmet.
Korsch was transported to the Vista Detention Facility and was charged with three counts of felony possession of a billy club, three counts of exhibiting a deadly weapon other than a firearm, exhibiting a firearm and possession of stolen property. In addition, a Sheriff’s Bomb/Arson investigator responded to the scene to collect a 40MM military ordinance that appeared to be inert. The investigation is continuing in regards to Korsch’s lawful possession of his firearms.
