Local public safety officers are competing as part of the 18th annual Surf for the Sea event which continues through Sunday. Firefighters and Police Officers from all over Southern California will be competing until 5:00PM on Friday.
Surf for the Sea is a commemorative surfing event in loving memory of the late Harry Bennett, Steve Leighton, Tore Bonura, Chuck “Clubber” Hundley, Banning Capps, Court Overin, John Craven, Midget Smith, Casey Williams, Chris Pompa, Michael Pultz, and most recently Susie Prestie, all local surfers and family of Surf for the Sea who have passed away.
