Oceanside CA– Kohls and Walmart are anticipating hiring more than 127,000 people combined for the holiday season.
Kohl’s Department Stores (NYSE: KSS) recently announced it anticipates hiring more than 67,000 associates nationwide this holiday season to support seasonal business in stores and growth on Kohls.com.
Walmart (NYSE: WMT) followed suit announcing it plans on hiring over 60,000 people for the holiday season.
Kohls to hire an average of 50 people per store
“Kohl’s is building a winning team by hiring more than 67,000 seasonal associates across the country to ensure we sustain the great service our customers know and have come to expect,” said Richard Schepp, Kohl’s senior executive vice president, human resources and general counsel. “By adding these associates, Kohl’s will continue todeliver an enjoyable and convenient shopping experience to all our valued customers, whether they choose to shop in store or online at Kohls.com this holiday season.”
Kohl’s anticipates hiring an average of 50 associates per store to provide customers with excellent customer service throughout the holiday season at its 1,163 stores in 49 states.* In addition, the company anticipates hiring approximately 9,300 seasonal positions at distribution centers across the country and approximately 670 seasonal credit operations positions.
Hiring began this month, and most jobs will be filled by mid-November. Holiday positions are also being filled at the company’s distribution centers, where hiring began in August. Associates working at distribution centers help ensure Kohl’s products get to the retail stores and into the hands of Kohls.com customers. Associates working in Kohl’s credit operations perform a variety of jobs, including assisting customers with Kohls.com orders.

Walmart to Hire 60,000 for Holiday Season
Walmart estimates that 25% of people hired for the holidays, move to a permanent role with the company.
A statement released today by a Walmart executive reads:
The holidays are a special time but it can also be a very busy time for many families. This year, Walmart is pulling out all the stops to make shopping even easier and more convenient for our customers across the country.
We know this is the busiest time of year for our stores and we are going to make sure we are delivering for our associates and customers. First, current associates who are interested in
working additional hours this season will have priority access in their store. Second, we plan to hire 60,000 seasonal associates, nearly 10 percent more than we hired last year.
We are committed to making sure our customers can find the products they want for Christmas at low prices and can get through the checkout lanes quickly. To accomplish this we will have
more registers than ever open during peak shopping hours between Black Friday and Christmas.
