First Meet of NSSA Open Season at South Jetty

Oceanside CA– Young surfers fought for every wave they could during the first meet of the National Scholastic Surfing Association, Southwest Conference Open Season on Saturday.

Surf was knee-high, for the most part, with some sets of three to four feet and very little wind. The Open Season Session #1 continues Sunday at the South Jetty at 7:00 am. There are 10 Open season events on the schedule this year but the next event in Oceanside isn’t until March 21, 2015.

The National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to encourage and assist its members in their interest to learn and develop the fundamentals and skills of surfing competition while competing in structured and quality events. The NSSA is one of the few national youth sports organizations that require its participants to maintain academic standards in order to compete.
