OPD Canine ‘Atlas’ Outdoes Competition

Oceanside CA– The South Lake Tahoe Police Department K-9 Unit hosted the K-9 Trials September 27th. The patrol dog competition was held at Lakeview Commons at El Dorado Beach.

competition.  This was Officer Wilson’s and his K-9 partner Atlas’s first trial.  The K-9 team competed among some of the toughest teams and judges in the state.  Officer Wilson and K-9 Atlas walked away with the following awards.

  • 1st place patrol Overall
  • 1st place patrol Novice
  • 2nd place patrol Agility
  • 3rd place patrol Protection
  • 3rd place patrol Obedience

To perform so well in such a competition reflects the handler’s skills and temperament as well as the skills of his partner. Both work together as a team.
He and his partner exemplify their team’s motto, “OPD K-9 Leading the way”. Congratulations to Officer Kevin Wilson and his partner Atlas.
