Oceanside CA– The Mission San Luis Rey will hold its annual Dia de los Muertos celebration this weekend on Sunday October 26, 2014.
The event takes place at the Mission located 4050 Mission Avenue from 10:00am to 5:00pm. Admission to the celebration is free. Parking is $5.00 per vehicle. You can avoid the traffic and park for free at El Camino High School on Rancho del Oro and take the free shuttle buses. The shuttle buses will run from 10am – 5pm. El Camino High School is located 400 Rancho de Oro Drive.
The event features decorated altars, a car show sponsored by Por Siempre Car Club, exhibits, vendors, music and dancing. A highlight of the festival is the Catrina Court Contest. Are you the fairest Catrina of them all? Attendees are welcome to participate in the Dia de los Muertos Catrina Court Contest which is open to women of all ages. Contestants will be judged on the following: Authenticity, creativity, originality and overall appearance.
