Mark Phelps Honored at Oceanside Music Fest Scholarship Fundraiser

Oceanside CA— Mark Phelps, long-time instrumental music instructor, was recently recognized and honored at the Oceanside Music Fest Scholarship fundraiser for his ‘Outstanding performance and lasting contribution in promoting music and the arts in North County.”

Ms. Regina Burke, OHS Band Booster since 1976, spoke about Mark’s commitment not only to the music program, but also to his students. The evening was capped when a number of his former students, Ben Yribe, Ray Duffy, John Quintlliano, and Chris Morris stepped up to the mic, shared stories and then performed some of their own, original music. Chris, now a recording artist, said he’d never forgotten what Mr. Phelps told them, that, “Practice makes permanent”.
