Oceanside CA— San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) joins the nation this Veterans Day in saluting U.S. military veterans for their service and is proud of its employees who have served in the Armed Forces. SDG&E is committed to hiring and retaining military veterans, veterans with disabilities and active military personnel. SDG&E also supports organizations that assist veterans and works with veteran-owned businesses in its supplier diversity program.
“SDG&E is proud to support our veterans and the families of the troops that defend our nation,” said Jeff Martin, CEO of SDG&E and former U.S. Army officer and helicopter pilot. “This Veterans Day, we thank our veteran employees and the non-profit community that plays a central role in helping our troops transition successfully from the home front to the front lines, and then back again to civilian life.”
SDG&E’s dedication to the military is woven into the fiber of the company, with approximately 400 SDG&E employees holding veteran status. SDG&E also supports veterans in its purchase of supplies and other contracts, and over the last five years spent more than $165 million with businesses owned by service-disabled veterans in an effort to promote jobs and economic activity for those who have served in uniform.
In 2014, SDG&E will have provided $500,000 in charitable giving to more than 75 non-profit organizations that support military and veteran families through job training, food assistance, housing, youth services, and other programs.
