Vista CA— Tuesday afternoon, November 18, 2014, at about 5:35 PM, Vista Traffic deputies were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision at the intersection of South Santa Fe Avenue and Pala Vista Drive in the City of Vista.
A Toyota SUV was traveling north on South Santa Fe Avenue. The pedestrian, a 60-year-old male, was crossing South Santa Fe Avenue from the west side of the roadway. The driver saw the pedestrian crossing the roadway and attempted to stop. The vehicle sideswiped the pedestrian knocking him to the ground. The male pedestrian sustained serious non-life threatening injuries. The pedestrian was transported to Palomar Medical Center for evaluation and treatment of his injuries. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the collision. The investigation and cause of the collision is ongoing and will be handled by the Vista Traffic Unit.
