Vista CA— ArtBeat on Main Street’s current featured exhibit recognizes an artist who is associated with the co-op gallery and wine lounge. The Chris Monette Appleton show runs through December 19, 2014. The 15 artworks are predominately from her Line Dancing series.
“I like to paint and draw.” This succinct statement by Appleton, who lives in Hidden Meadows, understates the multifaceted work she creates, examples of which are on display at her ArtBeat studio space and her website at www.chrismonetteappleton.com.
No medium eludes Appleton. Vibrant watercolors and crayons. Evocative oils and charcoals. Mixed media. Mexican folk art-inspired illustrations and pet portraits. She states, “I enjoy being part of the fun, diverse ArtBeat family. I interact with other artists and get to meet the people who patronize the gallery. Everyone seems to have a good feeling about ArtBeat. I feel comfortable there.”
ArtBeat owner Kait Matthews believes, “Chris’ work bespeaks an artist who thinks globally and creates locally – and we’re all the richer for it. I invite people to view the exhibit while enjoying some of the many exciting events offered at our all-things-cultural destination, including comedy and open mic nights, Paint Your Own Wine Glass, classes and workshops, music, food and other activities posted at www.artbeatonmainstreet.com. When people shop locally, everyone benefits.”
