Oceanside CA— The COASTER Holiday Express rolled into Oceanside for the ninth year with Santa and the Mrs. aboard, along with carolers and Santa’s helpers. There were two departure times and again, the six car trains were filled to capacity with families making the 90 minute round trip to the Sorrento Valley Station.
Passengers were serenaded by carolers entertained by characters from ‘Frozen’ and awed by balloon animal creators. They were greeted by train Conductor, Robert Nathan as they boarded the express.
Santa Claus and his friends went car to car greeting all the passengers, posed for photos and collected letters to Santa the youngsters wrote while riding the express.
The items requested from Santa, by kids on the train, varied a lot but there was a constant stream of requests for puppies and a few kitties too.
Kendall, 7 of Carlsbad asked Santa to get toys for kids that don’t have toys along with a sew it yourself stuffed animal kit while her little sister had a different agenda. Kelsey wanted high heeled shoes, high heeled boots, cowboy boots and a baby stroller.
Westin from Oceanside wants a Santa Fe locomotive that goes on a wooden track. His grandmother, Susan Fox said Westin has been a train lover since the day he was born “I think his first word was train”
Tickets for the ride went on sale in November and once again they were sold out shortly after sales opened.
