Arrest Made in Carlsbad Hit and Run Involving Pedestrian

Carlsbad CA— Early this morning, December 23, 2014 at approximately 1:52 am, City of Carlsbad Police Officers were dispatched to the 2700 Block of State Street regarding an accident that occurred between a vehicle and a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult female sitting on the ground in the street. An investigation was conducted which revealed that a vehicle had collided with the adult female and then fled the scene northbound on State Street.

Officers responded and searched the area for the vehicle. Shortly thereafter Carlsbad Police dispatch, with the assistance of the California Highway Patrol, learned from a witness that the vehicle involved in the collision was in the area of Lake Blvd and Cannon Road in the City of Oceanside.

At approximately 2:05 am Carlsbad Police Officers responded to the area of Lake Blvd and Cannon Road where they located a vehicle matching the description. The vehicle involved in the collision was traveling east on Lake Blvd approaching Cannon Road. Officers stopped the vehicle and took Alexander Nootens, 22 of Vista, into custody without incident.

Nootens was ultimately arrested for hit and run with injury and driving while under the influence of alcohol causing injury. He was transported to the Vista Detention Facility where he was booked.

No information on the condition of the hit and run victim is being released at this time.
