Magical Realism Reigns at ArtBeat’s Margaret Chiaro Exhibit

Vista CA—  Locally renowned artist Margaret Chiaro is the first featured artist of 2015 at ArtBeat on Main Street, 330 Main Street, Vista. Her “Magical Realism” exhibit opened January 17, 2015 and runs through February 18, 2015. The show features a provocative centerpiece painting entitled, “Be Careful What You Wish For … Drowning in Money.” Surrounding it are one dozen works in what Chiaro terms “magical realism,” a genre she has created in captivating fashion. She says, “The process reveals the distortion of realistic people against abstracted environments.”

Chiaro is a full participant at ArtBeat’s co-op gallery and wine lounge. In addition to displaying an ever-changing array of work year-round, she serves as Art Education Instructor and Gallery Manager. She teaches a variety of classes and workshops, from beginner’s classes to life drawing and painting workshops to the very popular “Palate to Palette,” in which participants enjoy a glass of fine wine while recreating an iconic painting by an old master such as Van Gogh or Rembrandt.

ArtBeat owner Kait Matthews says, “I am honored that an artist of Maggie’s exceptional stature and talents, who could associate herself with any organization, has chosen to be part of our gallery. Her works of art are arresting, dramatic and thought-provoking. Her classes are a big hit; our students love her and learn a lot. Having artists like Maggie Chiaro as part of ArtBeat sets us apart and helps brand us as a vibrant regional cultural destination here in the heart of Vista.”
