Driver in Fatal San Marcos Collision was Recently Widowed

San Marcos CA— The man killed in a head on collision in San Marcos, Wednesday morning was recently widowed according to the San Diego County Coroner.

Guadalupe Perez, 57 of Escondido, was traveling in a 2007 Nissan Frontier truck, the wrong way, on E. Mission Avenue near Bougher Street in San Marcos. Perez collided head on with a 2004 GMC Yukon SUV traveling at the posted speed limit.

Perez sustained severe blunt force trauma and was transported to Palomar Hospital with advanced cardiac life saving measures (ACLS). Upon arrival, ACLS was continued but to no avail and death was pronounced. The San Diego Sheriff’s Department suspects Perez may have been driving under the influence at the time of the accident.
