Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College is wrapping up Black History Month with its second annual Umoja fundraiser and concert, ‘Soul Fusion’, on Saturday, February 28. The event will be held 4-7 p.m. at the MiraCosta College Concert Hall, located on the Oceanside Campus at 1 Barnard Drive.

The event will feature a silent auction and a jazz, gospel and R & B concert. Performers will include David Dredden and Undefeated, TJ Wilkins (vocalist) from NBC’s The Voice plus MiraCosta College’s Frequency Vocal Jazz Ensemble, directed by Matt Falker. MiraCosta College associate sociology instructor, Anthony Blacksher, will serve as master of ceremonies.

“The concert is the capstone event for MiraCosta’s celebration of Black History Month,” said Don Love, associate counselor at MiraCosta College. “It serves as a scholarship fundraiser for our Umoja Program and the funds that we raise will provide a lot of additional support and really improve the academic outlook for black students.”

Admission is $10; $20 for VIP. VIP ticket holders will have a chance to attend a reception with complimentary hors d’oeuvres. The silent auction will start at 4 p.m. and the concert begins at 5 p.m.
