Carlsbad City Library Hosts Money Smart Week Workshops

Carlsbad CA— Carlsbad City Library will host free workshops during Money Smart Week, April 18-25. Money Smart Week is designed to help consumers better manage their personal finances. Hundreds of organizations across the country including businesses, financial institutions and libraries partner to stress the importance of financial literacy and provide free educational programs throughout the week. The library’s workshops will cover personal finance, retirement planning and finding stock information online.

Georgina Cole Library workshops will be held at 1250 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008. Workshops are free. For more information, visit www.carlsbadlibrary.org or call 760-434-2933. Point Loma Credit Union and CUSO Financial Services present the April 19 workshops.

Retirement Planning 101, 1:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Create a roadmap to your retirement. Learn about different types of retirement accounts, strategies for retirement planning and the resources available to help you reach your goals.
Building your Nest Egg, 2:45 – 3:45 p.m.
Take control of your retirement planning through investing. This presentation will cover tax deferred investing, the power of compounding and investment strategies.

Getting Fiscally Fit, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
This workshop provides a broad overview on sound financial management, with topics including basic cash management, financial hurdles, accumulating wealth and the importance of planning.
Passport to Retirement, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Are you prepared for retirement? Addresses the key issues of retirement planning, reaching your goals and obstacles to success.

Monday, April 20, 9 – 10 a.m. Computer Savvy Financials
An overview on how to find information on stocks using Valueline, Google Finance and Yahoo Finance.
Wednesday, April 22, 9 – 10 a.m. Personal Finance
An overview on interest rates, real estate and personal finance websites.

Carlsbad City Library Learning Center computer class will be held at 3368 Eureka Place. Seating is limited, and reservations are required by calling 760-434-2871.
