Oceanside CA— Long-time Oceanside residents and art collectors Darrell and Loren Dixon are opening up their unique home on Sunday May 3rd for the Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, ‘Art and Garden Tour’ SpringFest fundraiser.

The home is really more like a museum featuring several floors filled with art, a secret doorway, hidden stair case, a fairy cottage, tree house, an incredible master bedroom suite with spectacular views of Oceanside and surprises at every turn.

“You can walk into a room and each time you do, something new will catch your eye.” said Loren Dixon during a preview tour of her home. Beautiful sculptures, mosaics, paintings and more fill most every room in the home that was originally built in 1928. Due to the additions and remodels over the years, the home has a Winchester House quality to it “but all our stairways and doors lead to somewhere,” said Loren.

Before you can get to the front door of the home, you must navigate through a garden filled with art, a large restored stained glass window, a pride of lions, fountain and pond with beautiful mosaics created by family members.

There are two tour times, either 11:00 am to 1:00 pm or 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm (please specify time – reservations are limited) when visitors will have the opportunity to explore this beautiful private home.

This OCAF fundraiser benefits itself as an entire organization instead of a particular project as before, and this year the organization is inviting guests to enjoy art with wine and appetizers under the trees of an astonishing garden to support its many arts-related projects.

Attendees of Spring Fest will enjoy live entertainment by Robert Parker, with hors d’oeuvres, wine and other beverages. Raffle prizes include wine tasting certificates, tickets to 14th annual OMFest, autographed books from “Write On, Oceanside!” published authors, VIP passes to Oceanside International Film Festival, season subscriptions for Oceanside Theatre Company at The Brooks, hotel stays, and restaurant dining certificates.

The Iowa native is also known for his groundbreaking weekly appearances in the early 80’s on the Country Variety TV show, “Ozark Opry.” In addition to Robert Parker winning a North County Entertainment Music Awards “Best Jazz” Category (1984 PURL Band), he has been inducted into the Iowa Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as well as the Iowa/Midwest Music Heritage Hall of Fame.
