Oceanside CA— At 2:41 this morning, May 5, 2015, the Oceanside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 2248 Oceanside Boulevard.
The first OFD unit on scene found a detached two car garage on fire. The resident who sleeps in the garage fortunately managed to escape across the street along with the family from the main house.
Due to the volume of fire, crews attacked the fire from the exterior and protected the main house as well as other surrounding structures. The garage collapsed shortly after fire crews arrived and the fire was under control in less than 20 minutes.
Damage is estimated at $50,000 including damage to the main house, a vehicle, and the garage which was a total loss. One adult was displaced by this fire and will be housed by the American Red Cross for the immediate future. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Units from Carlsbad and Vista Fire Departments assisted on the incident.
