To some, the “movement” of delivering locally-grown fresh food becoming more of the norm. Many restauranteurs receive local, organic products from their Farmers’ Markets and distributors for use in their seasonal menu options. This practice keeps agriculture sustainable and offers the opportunity for community-supported agriculture to occur. According to the USDA, “members” or “share-holders” of a farm or garden – or group of local producers – pay for and “eat seasonally and regionally” to help cover costs of the farm’s operation. For their contributions, members receive shares in the farm’s bounty throughout the growing season, which results in fresh options for all to enjoy.

Farming and agriculture are central to the mission of the 22nd District Agricultural Association of the State of California. Delivering a farm-to-fork experience is not only exciting, but it should prove to be delicious and nutritious.

Participating local farmers and gardens:

  • Blue Heron Farms
  • Brandt Beef
  • Connelly Farms
  • Connelly Gardens
  • Fresh Origins
  • Stehly Farms Organics

Local Encinitas flower growers, Dramm & Echter, will be providing blooms for all of the tables, and San Diego’s own Bottles & Wood, will be providing beautiful recycled vases and platters from their selection of repurposed glass and wood goods.

Balboa Park’s organist Dr. Carol Williams, San Diego Civic Organist and Artistic Director of the Spreckels Organ Society will play musical entertainment as guests arrive and enjoy their organic feast.

Make sure to come early, before the Farm To Table Dinner, for the 16th Annual Enviro Fair│Locally-Grown Fest.  At this event, fairgoers will learn firsthand about a variety of topics including organic and sustainable farming, pollution prevention, and healthy living in the beautiful Paul Ecke Jr. Flower and Garden Show presented by Think Blue.  Meet local farmers and learn about local Community Supported Agriculture. Stroll through our gardens, filled with fun, non-profit organizations sharing ways we can all better support the environment. Enjoy live music and guest speakers throughout the day.
