San Diego County CA— Keeping up the momentum from a dynamic year, including an office move to downtown San Diego, Southwest Strategies is excited to welcome two new hires to its team – Senior Account Executive Kelli Nenaber and Account Executive Sammi Lowe.
Kelli Nenaber is a seasoned marketing and communications professional with extensive experience in strategic brand development, community affairs, public relations, event production and relationship management. In her role as a Senior Account Executive, Nenaber will work with a number of existing clients to build comprehensive strategic communications and public affairs programs to advance their interests.
Before joining Southwest Strategies, Nenaber worked for Macerich, a national retail property management company, where she managed marketing efforts for their luxury retail, dining and entertainment destinations in Santa Monica. During her time with the company, she developed and implemented multi-faceted marketing campaigns, comprehensive public and media outreach plans, and innovative event concepts. Nenaber forged countless relationships with local, national and global brand partners, including Santa Monica Fire, City of Santa Monica, Coca Cola, FIFA, Nickelodeon, Acura, HGTV Network, NBC, FOX, Universal Music, Interscope, NIKE and National Geographic.
“Kelli’s extensive marketing knowledge and enthusiasm for campaign development makes her an invaluable addition to our team,” said Southwest Strategies President Chris Wahl. “Her education and expertise bring us the creative perspective we need to take on new and diverse projects.”
Prior to entering the retail realm, Nenaber’s focus was on the community. Nenaber managed community relations for Many Mansions, a Ventura County nonprofit organization providing affordable housing and life-enriching services to homeless and low-income residents in the area. She worked alongside city staff, businesses and residents to raise awareness about local housing needs, spur policy changes, navigate land use and zoning laws, and garner support to sustain and evolve the organization’s mission.
Nenaber later teamed up with the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce as Director of Community Relations and Events, where she produced cutting-edge events, developed effective messaging platforms, engaged the membership and key community stakeholders in political action and business advocacy initiatives, and promoted the region’s economic vitality.
A double graduate of California Lutheran University, Nenaber holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a marketing emphasis, and a Master of Business Administration with emphases in management and organizational behavior.
Sammi Lowe, Southwest Strategies’ newest Account Executive, brings her experience in marketing, government relations and community outreach to her work on several transportation related accounts, including Caltrans and SANDAG.
Most recently, she worked for the City of San Diego Public Utilities Department, where she organized outreach efforts for its award-winning Pure Water San Diego program to promote sustainable drinking water for San Diego residents. While working on Pure Water San Diego, Lowe gained a critical understanding of pressing community issues within the City. Earlier in her career, Lowe worked for an educational publisher, Better Chinese, marketing innovative PC and tablet-based language curriculum.
“Sammi brings great passion and a strong work ethic to Southwest Strategies,” said Wahl. “Her dedication to the work we do is the kind of commitment we strive to demonstrate to each of our clients to best serve their needs.”
Lowe graduated from the University of California, San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication. While attending UCSD, she worked in public relations and in the development of social media and digital marketing strategy.
