Oceanside CA—The Kruglak Gallery at MiraCosta College is pleased to present ‘(Up)root’, the cap stone exhibition by emerging artists working in the Art Department at MiraCosta College. Students in Art 295, Professional Practices/Visual Art created the works displayed in this exhibition. These students are using this forum as an opportunity to cultivate artistic vision and career professionalism.
‘(Up)root’ represents how these artists draw upon their roots in family, culture, and the natural world to challenge their individual artistic visions. Their work examines cultural and political concerns as well as traditional and avant-garde modes of self-expression. Each artist is contributing new pieces for (Up)root, as well as documentation for their professional artistic portfolios. These portfolios contain images of past artwork, artist statements, and resumes that will be accessible for viewing during the scheduled exhibition hours. Artwork in (Up)root incorporates wide-ranging concepts, processes, and mixed media, including drawing, painting, photography, digital media, and sculpture.
Students in Art 271 Museum and Gallery Exhibition engaged in this first-ever collaboration with Art 295 to design, promote, and present (Up)root. Their curatorial essays about the exhibition will also be available for viewing. (Up)root will highlight the self-discovery and growth of this diverse group of student artists and curators. We welcome you to join us.
