Oceanside CA— Former MiraCosta College student Brianna Bottle has won the Bernard L. Hyink Scholarship essay contest. Bottle is the third MiraCosta College student to win since 2012.
Bottle submitted an essay titled, “Todo Se Arregla,” in which she describes the impact of her summer accounting internship in Barcelona, Spain. The internship gave Bottle the chance to be part of World Bank’s highly selective Young Professionals Program, in which interns travel around the world and use their financial knowledge to help people. The essay received the highest score, 142 out of 150.
“The internship taught me about what I want to do and how I want to live,” said Bottle. “Business is a complex field, but it is a goal worth working towards, and I wouldn’t be so excited and assured had I not done the internship.”
Bottle accepted her $1,000 Bernard L. Hyink Scholarship at the annual California Work Experience and Internship Association Conference held in Sacramento this spring.
Bottle has transferred to UC Berkeley and is majoring in business administration. While at MiraCosta College, she was a member of the Associated Student Government and served as vice president of programming at the San Elijo Campus.
