Escondido CA— The California Center for the Arts, Escondido is proud to kick off their 2015/2016 season with the semi-final round of the legendary San Francisco Comedy Competition on Wednesday, September 23, 2015.
Since the 1970s, the competition has discovered an array of comic superstars, including Robin Williams, Dana Carvey, Ellen DeGeneres, and Louis C.K.. Reigning champ Kabir “Kabeezy” Singh will host this hilarious showcase featuring ten comics vying for a spot in the finals. Hundreds of comedians audition each year to compete in the San Francisco Comedy Competition, but only 32 are selected. Each mini-set will be judged by both a panel of judges and the audience voting on their material, stage presence, delivery and technique.
Fresh off his Comedy Central debut on the hit comedy show “Gabriel Iglesias’s Stand-Up Revolution,” Kabir Singh is a rapid-fire comic who has collected numerous accolades for his razor-sharp wit and in-your-face attitude. Singh took home first place two years in a row at the Bay Area Stand Up Comedy Competition, and won the 39th Annual SF International Comedy Competition, where he became the first comic in the competition’s history to come in first place in all five rounds. Singh has shared the stage with top stars such as Dave Chappelle, Dane Cook, and Russell Peters, and has headlined every major comedy club in California including the Hollywood Laugh Factory, Melrose Improv, and Sacramento Punchline.
