Call for Submissions to North County’s Largest Film Festival

Oceanside CA— Oceanside International Film Festival has concluded its 2015 season with a big bang August 16 at Star Theatre announcing its winners. Similar to the previous year’s OIFF, the best films of 2015 happen to be from Southern California, New York, and Germany. The filmmakers associated with these films can now put down on resumes their achievements in connection with the eight-day event once again organized by Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, North County San Diego’s largest film festival:

  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Picture: Keep In Touch (from New York, NY)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Student Film – K to Middle School: Save The Date (from Poway, CA)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Student Film – High School: Two and a Quarter Minutes (from Costa Mesa, CA)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Student Film – College: Somos Amigos (“We Are Friends”, from Madrid, Spain)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Animation Film: Tick Tock (from Turkey)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Short Documentary: Over the Coals : Santa Maria the BBQ Capitol of the World (from Los Angeles, CA)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Narrative Short Film: Keeper of The Past (from Berlin, Germany)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Full Length Documentary: Omo Child: The River and the Bush (from Rancho Santa Fe, CA)
  • OIFF-2015 Jury’s Best Narrative Feature Film: WildLike (from New York, NY)

  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Full Length Documentary: Breaking Point (from San Marcos, CA)
  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Short Documentary: King Corduroy (from San Diego, CA)
  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Student Film – College: Inner Peace (from San Diego, CA)
  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Student Film – High School: A Stacked Deck (from Carlsbad, CA)
  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Student Film – K thru Middle School: The Sad Snowman (from Irvine, CA)
  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Animation: Telling a You (from New York, NY)
  • OIFF-2015′s Audience Choice Award – Best Narrative Feature Film: Keep In Touch (from New York, NY)

Amateur and professional filmmakers alike are now invited to submit their films for OIFF-2016’s season. Submission instructions can be seen at www.osidefilm.org The festival will run in the same format and at the same venues Aug 7 to 14, 2016. In 2015 it showed 75 films on the big screen and many locals once again have a chance for a spot light to showcase their work on the big screen. Participants will find it advantageous to submit their film early as the Early-Bird submissions deadline is December 14, 2015.

Film categories are: Narrative Feature Films 40 to 120 min, Narrative Short Films under 40 min, Full Length Documentaries 40 to 120 min, Short Documentaries under 40 min, Animation Films up to 120 min, Student Films up to 120 min. (Full Length and Short Documentaries may also include sports, live performance, fashion, and music videos. Student Film category is kindergarten through college. ) Filmmakers will be notified if their work is selected for festival screening / becomes an Official Selection by July 4, 2016.

All proceeds from the festival go towards scholarships and for the purpose of putting out more public events by OCAF. Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation / OCAF’s Performing Arts and Visual Arts Scholarships are presented annually to graduating high school seniors. The goal is to inspire the young to further explore their talents in the arts, while raising funds to support their talents and dreams.)
