Oceanside CA – On Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at approximately 7:00 pm, Oceanside Police received a call for assistance from Oceanside Lifeguards. A preliminary investigation revealed a 67 year old female was assaulted by an unknown suspect. The victim was knocked unconscious and sustained serious injuries.
On September 25, 2015 in response to media coverage, a witness to the felonious assault, came to the station and was interviewed. During the interview, she positively identified the suspect in the assault. Detectives then issued a probable cause declaration for the suspect.
During the subsequent investigation, Oceanside Police Detectives identified subject Isaac Pettigrew as the suspect.

This morning, Sunday September 27, 2015, at approximately 7:26am, dispatch received calls from Oceanside Lifeguards and citizens regarding a person matching the description of Pettigrew last seen on the beach, near the pier. Officers responded and located Pettigrew in the 200 block of South The Strand.
Pettigrew was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Police Department where he was interviewed by a Crimes of Violence Detective. At the time of this press release a motive for the attack has yet to be determined.
