San Diego CA— Southwest Strategies, a leading San Diego public affairs and public relations agency, recently hired Natalie Buchbinder to support the firm’s expanding client portfolio.
Prior to joining the firm, Buchbinder served as an Assembly Fellow in the office of California State Assembly member Brian Maienschein, where she developed press materials for several bills, made policy recommendations for human services legislation and advised on multiple issue areas. Among her accomplishments while in the Assemblymember’s office was assisting the team in the passage of a crucial bill informing children in juvenile dependency proceedings of their right to speak in court hearings. Prior to her selection as a Fellow, Buchbinder worked for the San Diego County Taxpayers Association as a policy analyst and for an international airline as a public affairs assistant.
“Natalie brings a varied and important skill set to Southwest Strategies from both Sacramento and Washington, D.C.,” said Southwest Strategies President Chris Wahl. “Her ability to navigate complex policy issues in many arenas combined with her strong communications background will be of excellent service to our expanding client base.”
Buchbinder graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and minor in Business Administration from the American University in Washington, D.C. While attending American, she was active in the university’s chapter of the national service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega and completed internships with a national magazine and the United States House of Representatives.
