Oceanside CA— The general public may get a shot at winning an award or becoming an Official Selection of North County San Diego’s largest annual film festival – for free. They may submit their videos for a special category free of submission fees. The ‘Oceanside Spotlight’ contest is back.
To celebrate Oceanside’s image, the Oceanside Cultural Arts Foundation, a non-profit organization, through the Oceanside International Film Festival is now accepting, until June 13, 2016, short films up to 5 minutes in length, that have something directly to do with Oceanside, either documentary, music video, narrative fictional story, historic account, recording of sports or nature, etc. No experience necessary. Candidates may simply go to www.facebook.com/likeOIFF and message their YouTube or Vimeo link to the organizers.
Only after the festival admin posts it on its Facebook page and announces “voting starts now!” (participants will be notified), anybody could “like” their work. The film with most “likes” on OIFF’s Facebook page by end of June 13, 2016 will be announced the winner, publicly shown on big screen during OIFF-2016, and given a special Oceanside Spotlight Award during the awards ceremony on August 14. See website www.osidefilm.org for schedule.
Runner-ups of the contest also have an opportunity to become Official Selections of OIFF-2016 and be shown on big screen between films of other genres as part of “Oceanside Spotlight” screening spots. By submitting their video to OIFF, applicants consent to press screenings and/or television broadcasts of excerpts from their work for publicity purposes.
Oceanside Spotlight Facebook-based contest is not limited only to Oceanside residents. Anyone can participate. (Got a film longer than 5 min and not about Oceanside? One can still participate in OIFF-2016 under regular submission process as detailed at www.osidefilm.org.)
