Oceanside CA— MiraCosta College has an exciting lineup of concerts set for early spring. All concerts will be held on the Oceanside Campus, located, 1 Barnard Drive.
A Night in the Gardens of Spain: Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, March 20 at 3 p.m. in the MiraCosta Concert Hall, Bldg. 2400, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
The MiraCosta College Symphony Orchestra will present music that was inspired by and originated in Spain, with special guest guitarist Eric Allen Foster joining in for Joaquin Rodrigo’s “Concierto De Aranjuez,” The concert will also include “España,” a wonderful tone poem by Emmanuel Chabrier and scenes from “Ballet Sorolla” written in 2013 by Spanish composer Juan Colomer for the Ballet Nacional de España.
Blues and the Abstract Truth: Wednesday, March 30, 1 p.m. (lunchtime presentation—free!), 7:30 p.m. concert, Studio A, Bldg. 2200, MiraCosta College, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
Oliver Nelson’s 1961 “Blue and the Abstract Truth” is considered a masterpiece in the canon of jazz history. The MiraCosta Jazz Collective will perform the complete recording, while instructor Steve Torok presents an accompanying lecture highlighting the songs and style of the great composer, arranger and saxophonist Oliver Nelson.
MiraCosta College Choral Festival Concert: Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. in the MiraCosta Concert Hall, Bldg. 2400, 1 Barnard Drive, Oceanside.
The Chamber Choir and Masterworks Chorale perform with special guest singers to share favorite works from the best of choral repertoire.
