Carlsbad CA— North County Artist Roger Chandler has created the signature art for Vigilucci’s Beach Bocce World Championship XXXVI, which benefits the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.
Scheduled to be held on July 9 at Dog Beach in Del Mar, Vigilucci’s Beach Bocce World Championship is sold out in record time once again this year. Players and spectators will get a chance to bid on Roger’s painting, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad.
“Each year we select a different local artist to come up with a unique piece for the championship,” stated Co-Founder John Manson. “We were thrilled that Roger volunteered to donate his time and talent. Roger’s painting will be the centerpiece of the commemorative poster, t-shirt, and program journal given to each participant and will basically serve as the trademark for this year’s event!”
Roger Chandler was awarded a full scholarship to art school at the young age of 18, and began his artist career as a technical illustrator at NASA when the space shuttle program was in its infancy. Since that time he has become an award-winning artist and illustrator, with his artwork featured on magazine covers, national advertisements, editorial art, brochures, and billboards.
Inspired by the surf and sea, Chandler selected his 19 year old daughter, Carlye, to be the model for the artwork. “I like to think my paintings reflect the amazing adventures I’ve had, and convey that indescribable feeling of a beautiful sunset reflecting on perfect wave on a perfect beach,” states Roger. “It was fun having a new project with a narrow focus to work on, and I am pleased to be a part of the elite group of artists who have created for this tournament.”
