Speed a Factor in Serious Injury Accident

Oceanside CA— At Approximately 6:45pm on Wednesday June 15, 2016, the Oceanside Police and Fire Departments responded to calls of a traffic collision in the area North Santa Fe and Elsinore St.

Investigation revealed that Vehicle #1, a 2012 Nissan 350-Z was westbound on N. Santa Fe in the #1 lane at a high rate of speed passing Elsinore St. Vehicle #2, a Toyota Prius had turned from south bound Elsinore to westbound N. Santa Fe into the #2 lane. The Nissan 350-Z struck the Prius in the front left quarter panel of and then went out of control across the #2 lane, bike lane and up the embankment, striking a mature tree. Traffic lanes are counted left to right with the number 1 lane being closest to the center of the road.

The Nissan 350-Z proceeded through the stucco wall bordering a residence in the 1400 block of Powell hitting a Caribbean island palm and a security fence for the pool. The Nissan then continued through the backyard and through the fence of another adjacent residence on Powell coming to rest against a decorative fire hydrant.

The solo occupant of the Nissan 350-Z suffered injuries to his lower back and legs and was flown to a local trauma center. The occupant of the Toyota Prius was uninjured.
