Carlsbad CA— Elementary and middle school kids who love to dance, or aspire to try out for dance or cheer squads in the future, are invited to brush up on their dance skills this summer with the Carlsbad High School Varsity Dance Team. The World Champion Lancer Dancers will be holding a Junior Lancer Dancer summer camp from Aug. 16 through 19 at Carlsbad High School from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The summer camp is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced dancers for a donation of $125 per child (includes a free T-shirt and photo). Participating dancers will learn new dance routines, have a performance opportunity, gain self-confidence and begin to develop a championship attitude by having the Lancer Dancers as role models.
Registration can be completed online at www.LancerDancers.com. The donations will help fund the Lancer Dancer’s annual trip to Orlando, Florida to compete in the Universal Dance Association’s (UDA) National and World Championships.
Coached by Lancer Dancer alum Laura Nares, this elite group of dancers are selected each year through a rigorous try-out and screening process and are nationally recognized for excellence in dance. In the last 15 years, the Lancer Dancers have won 11 National Titles in jazz and hip hop. Their most recent title was at the USA Dance National Championships in Anaheim in March 2016, where they placed first in Hip Hop. In February 2016, the team was awarded the prestigious World Championship title in hip hop during the UDA National Dance Team Championships in Orlando, Florida.
The Lancer Dancer tradition is built on school spirit and hard work, in academics as well as dance. For the past two years in a row the girls achieved a remarkable team average GPA of 4.0.
Each year, the team performs at CHS home games for varsity football and basketball games. The Lancer Dancers also perform an annual dance showcase open to students, families and members of the community. The team takes pride in supporting a variety of community events throughout the year, with specially choreographed dance routines and a positive team spirit.
