Witnesses Sought in Hit and Run Involving Pedestrian

Vista CA— On Monday September 12, 2016 at approximately 7:58 PM, Vista deputies were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian hit and run collision at S. Santa Fe Avenue and Santa Anita Place, in the city of Vista, county of San Diego.

A preliminary investigation determined the victim was crossing S. Santa Fe Avenue when he was struck by a black, newer model, Nissan pickup truck traveling at approximately 40 miles per hour. The driver of the Nissan fled the scene northbound on S. Santa Fe Avenue and has not been identified.

The victim was transported by the Vista Fire Department to Palomar hospital with serious injuries. It is unknown if alcohol was a factor in the collision.

Witnesses were interviewed at the scene. Anyone who witnessed the collision, but did not provide a statement, is urged to contact Deputy Gallagher at (760) 806-4220.
