MiraCosta College Offers Fall 2016 Community Education Classes

San Diego County CA— MiraCosta College’s Community Education and Workforce Development Program is offering the following not-for-credit community workshop courses this fall:

Soulful Yoga

Beautiful hatha yoga will give you increased flexibility, tone and strengthened muscles, while creating a state of inner awareness and wellbeing. Fee: $86. Location: La Colonia Park, Recreation Room, 715 Valley Avenue, Solana Beach. Time: Mondays, 10/24–11/28, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

Soul Line Dancing

Learn popular soul line dances choreographed to your favorite R&B, jazz, Latin and blues tunes. Soul line dancing is easy to learn, doesn’t require a partner and is great for all ages. Beginner and experienced dancers encouraged. Fee: $75. Location: MiraCosta College’s San Elijo Campus, Room 204, 3333 Manchester Avenue, Cardiff. Time: Thursdays, 10/13–11/17, 6–7:30 p.m.

Wine 101

If you’re new to wine or want to better understand what you are drinking, this class will help. You will learn the basics of how it is made, how to read wine labels, learn ideal food pairings, and taste wines from some of the most legendary regions in the world. Fee: $79. Location: San Elijo Campus, Room 406. Time: Wednesdays, 10/26–12/7, 6–8 p.m.

Meatless Tuesdays: A Taste of Europe

Learn meatless substitutions for classic dishes in a fun, hands-on class that will take you on a European culinary tour with mouth-watering recipes the whole family will love. Fee: $49. Location: Torrey Pines High School, HE1, 3710 Del Mar Heights Rd, San Diego. Time: Tuesday, 10/18, 6:30–9 p.m.

Write a Screenplay

Understand and apply the five basic steps of writing a screenplay: planning, organizing, writing the draft, revising and editing, and submitting for film consideration. Loglines, synopsis, and treatments are discussed. Professional resources are also identified to get the most out of your writing. Fee: $41. Location: San Elijo Campus, Room 306. Time: Saturday, 10/22, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

Introduction to Aviation Science

This course is a survey of the aerospace field, including the functions and operations of various federal and state regulating aviation agencies and airport-based companies such as air carrier, general aviation, aviation maintenance, flight schools, and other major occupational and supportive areas. Fee: $275. Location: Technology Career Institute, 2075 Las Palmas Drive, Carlsbad. Time: Tuesdays & Thursdays 11/3–11/29, 6–8:30 p.m.
