Discarded Cigarette Cause of Blaze that Damages Home in Fire Mountain

Oceanside CA— Just before 1:30 Sunday afternoon, December 11, 2016, the Oceanside Fire Department responded to a report of a structure fire at 1869 Avocado Rd. The first unit arrived in 6 minutes to find a wood deck attached to the home on fire with the fire spreading to the home’s exterior wood siding. The fire was under control five minutes after arrival. A fire investigator was called and the cause was a discarded cigarette that fell under the deck.

Just prior to the structure fire, crew responded to multiple cars on fire in the apartment parking lot of 550 Morse Street. Fire crew found three cars on fire burning under a metal carport structure. The fires were extinguished in 15 minutes and the cause of the fire currently under investigation.
