MiraCosta College 4th Annual Soul Fusion Concert to Benefit Umoja Program

Oceanside CA— The MiraCosta College Umoja Program is kicking off its Black History Month activities with its 4th annual fundraising concert, “Soul Fusion,” Saturday, February 4, 2017. A VIP reception will precede the concert from 4-5 p.m., with the program running from 5:15-7:30 p.m.

The event will take place at the MiraCosta College Concert Hall, Bldg. 2400, located on the Oceanside Campus, 1 Barnard Drive.

Performing artists will include Umoja student Jazmine Rogers; gospel group Eddie Baltrip and Fulfillment; and special guest artist and Season 7 finalist on the nationally syndicated show The Voice, Damien Lawson. Attendees will be able to take part in an art auction of pieces by professional artists as well as students from various colleges and universities. Professor Anthony Blacksher, a.k.a., “Ant Black” will serve as master of ceremonies for the evening and will perform spoken word poetry.

The Umoja Program is committed to enhancing the cultural and educational experiences and increasing the persistence and retention rates of African-American and other students. The money raised will be used to provide scholarships and financial assistance to Umoja students facing unforeseen financial obstacles that may disrupt their education.

General admission tickets are $10; VIP tickets $20. VIP ticket holders will attend the reception preceding the concert with hors d’oeuvres, artisan cheeses and crackers and local wine.
